פרופ' שרון פוליאקין

Sharon Poliakine was born in Haifa, Israel in 1964. She graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in 1989. From 1987 to 2006 she worked as a master printer at the Jerusalem Print Workshop, and is renowned as an expert in the art of etching.

Poliakine's body of work contains paintings, objects, site-specific installations and prints. Her work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions including Israel Museum, Jerusalem (1993), Ein Harod Museum of Art (2004), Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2002, 2010); Ashdod Museum of Art (2012), Jerusalem Print Workshop (2002, 2017) and Gordon Gallery, Tel Aviv (2008, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018).

Her participation in group exhibitions include Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts, Japan (1993), Bertha Urdang Gallery, New York (1993), Sungkok Art Museum, Seoul, South Korea (2000), Haifa Museum of Art (2000, 2004, 2014), Israel Museum, Jerusalem (1995, 2003, 2006), LA Print Space, Los Angeles, California, USA (2013), The Open Museum, Tefen Industrial Park (2014), On the Seam Museum, Jerusalem (2016), Petach-Tikva Museum of Art (2016), Jerusalem Print Workshop (2018).

Her works are included in public and private collections among them: Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Ein Harod Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, New York, The Public Library, New York, The British Museum, London.

Poliakine is a professor at the University of Haifa, where she served as the Head of the Art department (2007-2012) and was the head of the new School of the Arts (2012-2016). She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants including the Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts Prize, Tokyo, the Pollock- Krasner Foundation Grant, USA and The Rappaport Prize for an established Israeli painter.
