Itamar Cohen

Itamar Cohen

Musician-performer and artist, born in 1994 in Pisgat Ze’ev, Jerusalem.

Itamar Cohen graduated in New Music from Musrara, Naggar Multidisciplinary School of Art and Society, Jerusalem (2019) with a Distinction for his final project: the album Mishkal (“weight”), whose influences range from electronic and experimental music to local oriental music and popular culture. The original music he composed for the video work Elay-Yam earned him an honorable mention at Akko Festival (2020).

In his work, Itamar Cohen explores the tensions and confusion that arise both within and between masculinity and the Jewish-Arab identity.

While working in Jerusalem he has collaborated with local artists (Inbal Djamchid, Karkait, Shabab Music and their “Monolingual” event series, the Tohu Collective) and was commissioned several works by local cultural institutions (Mekudeshet – Dissolving Boundaries, Mazkeka – Zikuk Festival).
