Lizzi Atiya’s works stem from an intuitive and impulsive place and allow a glimpse into her inner world — a world of turmoil, impudence, as well as submission. Ranging from abstract to figurative, her works are made of lines, drips and erasures. They openly confront representations of power relations — male versus female — rooted in social and cultural conventions. The artist’s inner chaos is transferred to the canvas in a cathartic dance of pain release.
