Oz Wirth

Oz Wirth

Born in 1994 in Pardes Hanna-Karkur.
Lives and works in Tel Aviv.
Graduated with honors from the Department of Multidisciplinary Art, Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art (2023); he was selected by the firms Heskia-Hacmun and Tamid Lakum to participate in art projects; his works have been purchased by private collectors.
In his work, Wirth seeks to expand the rigid, sharp-edged square canvas by cutting and extracting the painted image. His use of materials such as bamboo branches and cut, stiff fabric brings together the mediums of painting and sculpture. From a shapeless lump of clay, he pulls out fingers and forms his own hands. These fingers grow, transform, and develop into red corals.
In his work, he seeks to expand the rigid, sharp-edged square canvas by cutting and extracting the painted image. His use of materials such as bamboo branches and cut, stiff fabric creates a sense of closeness between the mediums of painting and sculpture. The color red appears in many of his works, activating and reviving dry fabric or hardened clay.
